ABOUT

GEM

The Gaslamp Quarter is Southern California’s premier dining, shopping, and entertainment district, offering a truly eclectic blend of cuisines, culture, clubs, and nightlife. The old-fashioned gas lamps glow along the wide brick walkways and line the streets where locals and visitors explore the hundreds of award-winning restaurants, nightclubs, live theaters, art galleries, boutiques, and hotels.

GEM – Gaslamp Event Management, Inc. – is housed at the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter in a beautiful, century-old Victorian structure named after the famous gambler and lawman, Wyatt Earp, who ran a saloon and gambling hall called ‘The Oyster Bar’ during the 1880’s. Today, the historical Wyatt Earp building (a.k.a. Louis Bank of Commerce) stands tall and proud as home to GEM and is honored to be the most photographed building in the Gaslamp Quarter.

GEM – Gaslamp Event Management, Inc. – is your #1 consulting agency for Event Planning, Hospitality Consulting, Marketing & Promotions and Talents. Together these four divisions operate in a synergistic equilibrium to deliver powerful results to the interrelated worlds of modern lifestyle, hospitality, nightlife, and special events for our clients.

GEM uses its wealth of experience to put renowned venues such as On Broadway, the Bitter End, Confidential, Red Circle, and Basic Urban Kitchen & Bar on the map, which has helped build a very successful track record in the Gaslamp Quarter. GEM has been successfully marketing its prestigious events, including Mardi Gras Club VIP, which has helped GEM remain one of the most sought after strategic partners in San Diego’s social, hospitality, and corporate scenes.

SIN

CEO

Awarded “Trailblazer of the Year” in 2006 by San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders and dubbed “Queen of Nightlife” by various media, including San Diego Union Tribune, www.discoverSD.com, and The Venue Mene, SIN brings entrepreneurial instincts, valuable international work experience, culture acumen and passion to her role as President and CEO of GEM, Inc. and Downtown Dolls and Chair of the Gaslamp quarter Hospitality Committee.

International Background

After graduating with a double major in marketing and communications from the prestigious Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia, SIN kicked off her event planning and marketing career in Singapore, Munich, Germany, and London. In Germany, she was responsible for marketing the Munich Convention Center and Munich trade shows to the Asia Pacific by leading international delegations to the State of Bavaria and managing high-tech conferences in Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, China, India, and the greater Asia Pacific. In London, as the Sponsorship Director for IBC – International Business Communications – SIN maintained and serviced a portfolio of fortune 500 sponsors and their events.

San Diego, California

In 2000, SIN relocated to San Diego and was appointed by Visco Entertainment to launch the 35,000 square foot club called “On Broadway Event Center.” SIN developed multiple aspects of the brand, including marketing collateral, corporate and internal communications, media relations, photo shoots, websites, newsletters, promotional items, and fully set up the special events infrastructure and sales department. During OBEC’s opening phase, SIN orchestrated all the grand opening parties, including the “Spooktacular” Halloween Ball, the sold out New Year’s Eve Ball, and the sexy Xtravaganza Series. Today, On Broadway is internationally acclaimed as the pioneer for putting San Diego on the world map for best nightclubs.

Thereafter, SIN joined The Bitter End to revamp and revitalize its Department of Social Events and Promotion. During her three year tenure at one of Gaslamp’s oldest bars, SIN quadrupled the sales and helped win numerous prestigious awards for the venue, including “Best Bar” and “Favorite Place to Play” from CRA, California Restaurant Association, and GQA, Gaslamp Quarter Association.

Today, at the helm of GEM, Inc. and Downtown Dolls, SIN continues to volunteer a great deal of her time doing philanthropy work by promoting charity events and marketing the Gaslamp Quarter’s wide variety of events. In 2006, she was awarded “Trailblazer of the Year” by the Mayor of San Diego for her leadership, contributions, and significant role in shaping the Gaslamp Quarter into a world-class entertainment destination.
